This article appears in Time magazine, the focus is censoring music. The article gives an example of a 13 year old girl named Lisette, she enjoys music with an edge. She believes that music that has sexual references and swear words aren't bad for teenagers to listen to. "My advice to parents is to let your kids grow up and do what they want to do" says Lisette. She believes that kids are already hardened from the media and it no longer has effect on them. The rest of the article talks about how it seems teens are now unshockable, and how scary that fact is.
I believe that dispite what Lisette says, the content of the music we choose to listen two has an effect on us. An example of this is when you are driving, for me when ever I am listening to calming music I stay calm on the road, while listening to angry music makes it easier for me to become upset. Whether concious or subconcious the music we listen to affects our lives.

Effects of Media Violence
The article talks about research on the effect of media violence. The article states that research has found the more violence children see being portrayed in the media the more likely they are to act out these actions later on in there lives. To Quote; "That exposure to media violence causes children to behave more aggressively and affects them as adults years later."
I agree that violence in the media causes children to be more volatile in there daily lives. I can see the effects of television programs that my two younger brothers watch. Because there is violence in almost every children's program they are constantly being subjected to violence. Even in our subconscious minds I believe that the violence we see in video games, music, movies, and television have an effect on us all.

Is Culture Influenced by the Meda or is the Media Influenced by Culture?
This question was posed in English last week. I believe that it is a very deep and thought provoking question.
Some might say that the Media is a direct representation of the culture in America, Others would argue that American culture is formed by the medias influence. I have a different outlook on the subject though. I believe the Media represents American culture the way the media wants it to be, they do this in hope that culture will represent what the are showing us and like the business that it is, they will profit financialy from this.
So in answering the posed question I believe that the media effects culture more that culture effects the media.

The Effects of Violence in the Media on Children
From video games and television to the news itself, violence is everywhere. Many parents and educators fear that violence seen on the media will desensitize children. Others claim the violence seen on the media is not real, and children understand this fact.
I believe that both consciously and subconsciously all violence that we see has an effect on us. I also believe that small children are more impressionable than older individuals. I know that when my little brothers see movies with fighting and violence they will always act it out when they are finished watching. It seems that almost every cartoon and children movie has an alarming amount of violence. It is seems to be very difficult to shelter your children for such images.

Media Influence on Body Image
The medias influence on body image is no longer a theory, its a widely accepted fact. If you were to judge our society on only the images found in magazines, television and film; you would receive a very warped sense of reality. The media is constantly portraying the "Ideal Body Image" and this image changes with time and style. Regardless of time the constant theme being observed is always unrealistic for everyone to achieve.
I know that being male I have a much different outlook on this issue, but I believe that this is applicable to all people. When a young girl looks through a magazine she will see ultra thin model when boys are absorbing media they see six packs and biceps. They wonder why they don't have this same stature, what the media doesn't want you to see is all the not so glamorous work that goes on behind building muscle. The media Influences all people by the images the produce.
