The medias influence on body image is no longer a theory, its a widely accepted fact. If you were to judge our society on only the images found in magazines, television and film; you would receive a very warped sense of reality. The media is constantly portraying the "Ideal Body Image" and this image changes with time and style. Regardless of time the constant theme being observed is always unrealistic for everyone to achieve.
I know that being male I have a much different outlook on this issue, but I believe that this is applicable to all people. When a young girl looks through a magazine she will see ultra thin model when boys are absorbing media they see six packs and biceps. They wonder why they don't have this same stature, what the media doesn't want you to see is all the not so glamorous work that goes on behind building muscle. The media Influences all people by the images the produce.

I agree with the fact that media has a huge impact on the portrayal of the human body. The media is always trying to tell it's audience that anyone can look just like the model in their magazine, when in reality that is bull crap. I also agree that the media hides many things from the public, or in other words they choose what they want you to see.
